Instructors Wanted!
The Valley of the Moon Teen Center is looking for energetic, passionate instructors willing to inspire and teach the next generation of Sonoma County. The VOM Teen Center is also interested in instructors interested in teaching the adult community during non-teen usage hours. FAQs
- How much will I be paid?
VOM Teen Center pays $20 for unaccredited instructors / $25 for accredited instructors. Accreditation does not need to be in the subject matter being taught.
- Do I need to be a certified teacher?
No. However, we require that its instructors have professional or practical work experience in their subject matter.
- Do I need submit to any type of testing or background check?
All instructors are required to be cleared through the Sonoma County Livescan process. Instructors will be given this information when they apply.
- Is there a minimum number of students needed?
Yes, in most situations a five student minimum is required to offer the course. This minimum may be different based on the content and cost of the course.
- Will students be charged? How much?
The VOM Teen center provides a mix of core and fee based courses. The VOM Teen Center will work with the instructor on determining the best cost structure to meet the community and Teen Center needs
- Who pays for the student material?
The VOM Teen Center will work with the instructor on determining whether students or the Teen Center will pay for course material.
- Do I need to have personal insurance?
In most situations no, however additional insurance may be required for specific athletic activities. The VOM Teen Center will work with the instructor on determining this on a course basis
- Will the Teen Center staff dictate the content of my course?
No, the Teen Center is looking for instructors who have taught or are willing to develop their own curriculum. All courses should include a component related to education and/or career development; and the Teen Center staff will provide guidance on how this can be achieved
- What days and hours will my classes be offered?
The VOM Teen Center will work with the instructor on determining the best course schedule that meets the needs of the students, the instructor and the Teen Center
- Do I need to submit a course proposal?
While a written proposal is not necessary, it would be very helpful for the VOM Teen Center staff. A short description of the course content, the title, materials needed and instructor experience with the subject matter should be included.
